Reviewer Guidelines

The Journal of Information and Technology Ethics (JITE) relies on qualified reviewers to provide independent scholarly assessment of submitted manuscripts to maintain the quality, integrity, and scientific standards of the journal. Peer review plays a vital role in ensuring that published research is accurate, original, and methodologically sound.

Reviewer Eligibility

Reviewers should:

  • Hold appropriate academic or professional expertise in the subject area.
  • Have a record of scholarly publications or relevant research experience.
  • Be able to provide objective, constructive, and timely reviews.
  • Declare any conflicts of interest before accepting a review invitation.

Accepting a Review

Before accepting a review invitation, reviewers should ensure that they:

  • Have sufficient expertise to evaluate the manuscript.
  • Can complete the review within the requested timeframe.
  • Have no conflicts of interest that may affect their impartiality.

If reviewers are unable to complete the review, they should promptly decline the invitation so that an alternative reviewer can be assigned.

Conducting the Review

Reviewers should evaluate manuscripts based on:

  • Originality
  • Scientific quality
  • Methodological rigor
  • Clarity of presentation
  • Validity of conclusions
  • Relevance to the journal's scope
  • Ethical compliance

Comments should be constructive, respectful, and evidence-based.

Review Recommendation

Reviewers may recommend one of the following:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

The final editorial decision remains the responsibility of the Editor-in-Chief.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to contribute to a fair, objective, and confidential peer-review process.

Reviewers should:

  • Review manuscripts objectively and without personal bias.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality throughout the review process.
  • Provide constructive comments that assist authors in improving their work.
  • Identify relevant published literature that has not been cited where appropriate.
  • Report suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated data, or other ethical concerns to the Editor.
  • Complete reviews within the agreed timeframe or notify the Editorial Office if additional time is required.
  • Refrain from using unpublished information obtained through peer review for personal research or professional advantage.
  • Inform the Editor immediately if a conflict of interest arises during the review process.

Reviewer Ethics

Reviewers are expected to adhere to the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct throughout the peer-review process.

Reviewers should:

  • Treat all manuscripts as confidential documents.
  • Review manuscripts fairly, objectively, and independently.
  • Avoid personal criticism of the authors.
  • Base comments solely on scientific merit and scholarly quality.
  • Declare any financial, professional, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest.
  • Decline review invitations where an impartial review cannot be provided.
  • Respect the confidentiality of unpublished research and not share manuscripts with others without prior permission from the Editor.
  • Report suspected ethical concerns, including plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, image manipulation, or citation manipulation, to the Editorial Office.
  • Comply with the journal's peer-review policies and publication ethics standards.
